Bhavnagar has always been one of the important business centers of Gujarat mainly dealing with cotton products. The city has also been famous in ocean trade, gems and silver jewellery business. Splendid splashes of the passionate waves of the Gulf of Khambat, an ancient history of ocean trade, vibrant culture, warm locals, bazaars brimming with people and chatter, enchanting architecture, progressive people and a happy developing town. Located at the southern tip of Gujarat peninsula, Bhavnagar is known as the cultural centre of the state of Gujarat. Literary achievers like Govardhan Tripathi, Kavi Kant, Narsihm Mehta and Ganga Sati have their roots in Bhavnagar. Bhavnagar lies in the southeast corner of the Kathiawar peninsula in the Saurashtra plains. Bhavnagar was founded by Bhav Singh ji Gohil in 1723 AD near the Gulf of Khambhat, on a carefully chosen strategic location having potential of maritime trade.

1: Gaurishankar Lake
Gaurishankar Lake
The vast lake spreading over an area of 381 hectares is also locally known by the name of Bor Talav after the illustrious Dewan Shri Gaurishankar Oza. Conceived and built in 1872 as a water reservoir for drinking water, today is one of the most preferred tourist as well as picnic spot in the city. The adjoining bal-vatika along with the musical fountains, planetarium, boat house and many more attractions provide ideal entertainment for a day out with nature and family. Gaurishankar Lake is a very popular place for the evening stroll, picnic and bird watching. Ducks, geese, pelicans, cranes and other wading birds can be seen on the banks of this lake. On the banks of the lake, the Bhav Vilas Palace is located which is owned by a relative of the family.  
 
2: Victoria Park

The reserved forest Victoria Park is situated 3 kms south of Bhavnagar City. The hot, dry climate supports scrubby and thorny vegetation. It has variety of bird life and is also home of animals like Neel Gai, fox, hynea, porcupine. Earlier Victoria Park was the famous game reserve. Various interesting wildlife animals and birds are still found in this park. The marshes in the park also attract many ducks and birds. Victoria Park is a popular tourist place and is known as green lung of the Bhavnagar. It is a man made forest situated in the state of Gujarat, Bhavnagar. It was established on 24th May 24, 1888 .It has been spread over an area of 500 acres. It is well known for its good habitat in water birds.  
 
3: Nilambag Palace

The Nilambag Palace is the current residence of the members of the royal family. The palace is also the only 5 star heritage properties in the city owned by the royal family. The palace was built in the year 1859 AD in a plot of 10 acres. Designed by a German architect, the palace has elements of Indian architecture in contemporary style.

Gandhi Smriti stands as a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. The building was established in 1955, and it has a huge collection of books and other items that were used by Mahatma Gandhi. The library takes one through various events of Gandhi's life portrayed through photographs. Gandhi Smriti has become of the most visited attractions of Bhavnagar over the years. It is easily accessible from every corner of the city.  
 
5: Gopnath Beach

A beautiful hamlet on the coast of the Gulf of Khambhat and at a distance of 10 Kms from Talaja, the taluka headquarter of Bhavnagar district is Gopnath. Vying for eminence on the tourist circuit with development of a heritage hotel - Gopnath Bungalow, it was a pleasant sea-shore retreat of Gohil rulers of Bhavnagar. The bungalow built in a European colonial style with cottages and mansions surrounding the courtyard face the sea and offer a beautiful view of the gulf. It attracts marine life and bird watching enthusiasts to the rocky shores on the coast. It is also renowned for the temple of Gopnath Mahadev, where Narsinh Mehta is believed to have performed penance. The coast in this area is full of tiny islands and offers a picturesque delight to the onlooker.  
 
6: Barton Library And Museum

The 19th century Barton Library is one of the oldest libraries of the city. The library standing in the central part of Bhavnagar is a hub of historical and cultural significance. The Barton library is frequented mainly by the elderly people, who read magazines, newspapers and dailies to pass their time. The library houses a number of books and manuscripts in different languages. Barton Museum was also established in the 19th century. The museum houses a private collection of Colonel Barton, a prime British representative of Saurashtra. It showcases weapons, coins, agricultural implements, wood carvings and fossils. Gandhi Smriti, set on the first floor of the museum was established in 1955, a museum with picture gallery, a library and Khadi Gramodyog Bhandar.  
 
7: Water Lock Gate

The Water Lock gate of Bhavnagar is one of the prime sightseeing attractions of the tourists. The Gate was built with the purpose of maintaining the sea water level in the docks. This aids the ship to remain floating also during the low tide. Prior permissions are required to view this Lock Gate. The Lock Gate is located in a city dockyard, built 100 years ago.   
 
8: Takhteshwar Temple

Situated on the hill top near the railway station, the beauty of this temple is beyond words. Dedicated to lord Shiva, Takhteshwar is built of white marble and makes for a prime tourist spot. This temple provides good views of the city and the Gulf of Cambay. This popular landmark is a Shiva temple constructed way back in 1893 and named after its patron Takhtsinhji. Sitting on the serene marble courtyard of the temple one can have a panoramic view of the entire city as well as the surrounding landscape.  
 
9: Gangajaha

In the midst of what was formerly a tank stands the temple of Gangadevi with a chhatri or partition. Made of white marble, designed by Sir John Griffits it was built by Maharaja Takhtsinghji in memory of Maharani Majirajba in 1893 AD. Gangajaha temple is dedicated to Ganga Devi. This temple is built in white marble located in the middle of a former tank. This temple has a chhatri, pavilion and bridge.   
 
10: Mahuva
Mahuva
A minor part Mahuva is famous for its handicraft work in wood and ivory. Lacquer work on wooden furniture and toys is its speciality; its fertile land bears 'Jamadar' mangoes similar to the Alphonso. There is an old mosque, Laxmi-narayan Temple and a Jain Dehrasar. The Pipavav project nearby is fast coming up as a major port and coastal industrial centre. It is also addressed as Kashmir of Saurashtra, because of the scenery around. The coconut tree plantations add to the beauty of the town. Tourists also enjoy at the beach of the city. Near the beach is the ancient Bhavani Temple, which is an important attraction of the city of Bhavnagar. The town enjoys an extremely pleasant climate throughout the year. At seashore there is a beach which is Mahuva beach. Mahuva Beach is like a pleasurable sea breeze and breathtakingly beautiful views to enthral the tourists.
