Dhamtari is one of the oldest municipality regions with an average elevation of 317 meters in the Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh state in India. The city is located in the fertile plains of Chhattisgarh. Dhamtari is a concise form of two terms Dhamma and Tarai. The town of Dhamtari is situated at a very scenic location with Mahanadi as its principal river. The city offers quite a few attractions to its visitors with easy accessibility to the nearby capital of Raipur. There are quite a few major dams that have been built over the years around the region which serve as tourist destinations. The Gangrel Dam here is worth a visit as it is the longest and biggest dam in the state of Chhattisgarh.
