Jhargram
Tranquillity is the best way to describe Jhargram, a southern city in West Bengal. Situated in the midst of lush forests and red soil, a trip to Jhargram doesn’t burn too much of a hole in a tourist’s pocket. Saal and Mohua trees dominate the forest canopy here. The town boasts of some historical temples, palaces for the erstwhile royalty and a mix of locals who enjoy traditional Bengali music and dance. Jhargram tourism relies a lot on tourists who are looking to explore a virgin, unadulterated place. It is located in the midst of the Belpahari and Kankrajhol ranges which is a photographer’s dream canvas. Other than the natural beauty and serene atmosphere of Jhargram, this place also attracts tourists due to its pilgrimage sites. Umapati Temple of Shiva is now of the renowned temples of Jhargram. Kurumbera Fort is supposed to be constructed in 14th century. It has Oriya inscriptions on it and is of archaeological importance. The best time to visit Jhargram is in the winters.
