About Junagadh

Being the capital of Junagadh Princely State once, the town shines with historical significance with many historical monuments to see. Very few places in Gujarat have the diversity that Junagadh offers. Located at the foothills of the Girnar range, Junagadh got its name because of Uparkot, a fort built by Chandra Gupta Maurya in 320 BC. Old Fort, as the word Junagadh, means the fort at the center of the city.

During Mohammad Bahadur Khanji I, the present city of Junagadh was founded. Junagadh has diverse weather conditions throughout the year, with hot summers and chilly winters.
