Mussoorie, with its green hills & varied flora & fauna, is a fascinating hill station located 38 km from Dehradun and 290 km north of the national capital of New Delhi. Mussoorie (also called Queen of Hill Station) is a slope station in the Dehradun District of the Indian province of Uttarakhand. Mussoorie is a mesmerizing destination with serene slopes, moving green slants, picturesque nature & snow-topped pinnacles of the Himalayas. 

One of the famous spots in Mussoorie is The Mall Road, a steep street with fine diners and different shops coating its whole extent. Mussoorie is also a Gateway to the “Gangotri” and the “Yamunotri” shrines.

1: Camels Back Road
Camels Back Road
Surrounded by snow-covered hills and verdant valleys, Camels Back Road is a 4 km long stretch between Kulri Bazaar and Library Chowk. The road is called Camels Back Road due to its natural layout, which resembles a camel’s hump. The serenity and surrounding greenery make this road ideal for refreshing morning walks. From here, you can behold breathtaking sights of the Doon Valley. Lined with several food outlets and shops that sell handicrafts and traditional artifacts, this road serves as a popular hangout place. Apart from shopping and soaking up the atmosphere, you can indulge in horse riding on this pathway.

The spectacular Gun Hill is among the most famous tourist attractions of Mussoorie. It is the second highest peak in the region after Lal Tibba. Perched 400 feet above Mall Road, this enthralling place is accessible through a cable car ropeway. This peak offers stunning views of snow-clad Himalayan ranges Srikantha, Bandarpunch, Pithwara, and Gangotri. Besides, the splendid view of Mussoorie town and Doon Valley would leave you completely spellbound.

Vinog Mountain Quail Sanctuary
Binog Mountain Quail Sanctuary, also known as Benog Wildlife Sanctuary, was established in 1993. This beautiful sanctuary, spreading across an expanse of about 339 hectares, is a haven for birdwatchers. The natural essence and picturesque location attract visitors to this sanctuary in large numbers. The Aglar River flows through this sanctuary, adding to its overall appeal.

By far, Kempty Falls is the star attraction of the hill station of Mussoorie. This perennial waterfall, set amid high mountain ranges, is perched above 4500 ft above sea level. The Kempty Falls emerges from the mountains and flows down the plains. From bathing in the shallow waters of the falls to fishing and swimming, there are ample activities for visitors to indulge in. If not interested in adventure, enjoy a picnic or spend a couple of hours listening to the sound of gushing waters.

Situated at an elevation of 3030 meters above sea level near the village Kaddukhal the temple of Surkanda Devi is on Mussoorie-Chamba Highway near Dhanaulti & one has to trek about 2 km. The temple of Surkanda Devi is situated on the top of the mountain and is of great religious significance.

About 15 km from Mussoorie, it is an ideal spot for trekking via Park Toll-Clods end, Dudhi. Located in the extreme western region of Mussoorie, Bhadraj offers a commanding view of the Doon Valley. Bhadraj Temple is dedicated to Lord Bal Bhadra, brother of Lord Krishna.

The beautiful Municipal Garden, earlier known as Company Bagh, 3 km from Mall Road, is an idyllic retreat for tourists & locals. A visit to this century-old garden, adorned with green lawns, a fountain, a mini artificial lake, and a waterfall, is like stepping back in the old colonial days. The garden houses a wide variety of flora, including around 800 different species of flowers.

Located 9 km from Chakrata on the Chakrata-Mussoorie route is the Ramtal Garden. It is 30 meters long and 20 meters wide garden enveloped by greenery, making it an ideal picnic spot. Ramtall or Ramtal Horticulture Garden is on beautiful sloppy hills at Chakrata Mussoorie road. A beautiful natural pond, worth seeing scenery & apple garden make it an ideal picnic spot.
