Niagara Falls History Museum
Local history is brought to life again at this informative museum, which occupies a two story, limestone structure built as a town hall in 1874. Within its walls, visitors can browse displays about the 1814 Battle of Lundy's Lane, geological creations or visit The Ontario Power Generation Gallery and exhibit interactively showcasing the history of electricity. Other exhibits centre on vintage toys, a recreated Victorian room, Indian artefacts, art glass and the rise of tourism in Niagara thanks to the presence of the falls. Outside is a fountain dating to 1901 that honours Queen Victoria's long reign. The museum is surely a unique spot and will mesmerize anyone who walks through its doors.

The best way to see Niagara's fascinating Whirlpool is from high overhead aboard the world famous Niagara Whirlpool Aero Car. Located 4.5 kms north of the falls suspended from sturdy cables the Niagara Whirlpool Aero Car offers a wonderful view. A Spanish engineer Leonardo Torres Quevedo designed and built it, the Aero Car has been operating since 1916. Riders can see the rapids, the Whirlpool, the Gorge, the hydro electric plants down the river, as the aerial car travels safely between two different points on the Canadian shore of the Niagara River over the spectacular whirlpool. This round trip is slightly more than 1 kms and takes about 10 minutes.

Great Canadian Midway is a 70000 sq ft entertainment complex located on Clifton Hill ‘The Street of Fun’ featuring over 300 games. Great Canadian Midway has interactive rides and games for people of all ages. From old favourites like Skee-Ball and Roll-a-Ball to new hits like Super 21 and Deal or No Deal, there is something for everyone. And, while playing the redemption games tourists will be rewarded with tickets that they can redeem for terrific prizes. There are also two great interactive rides, the pulse racing XD theatre and the 3D Ghost blasters ride. This Great Canadian Midway entertainment complex is located toward the bottom of Clifton Hill.

This unique and stunning display is a very popular stop on the Niagara Parkway and is photographed almost as often as the falls. The planted face is maintained by the Niagara Parks horticulture staff while the mechanism is kept in working order by Ontario Hydro the organization that originally built the clock. The floral design is changed twice each year it features viola in the spring and four cultivars of Alternanthera along with green and grey forms of Santolina Sage during the summer and fall. California Golden Privet and Blue Festuca Grass may be used for contrast. The grounds surrounding the clock feature bedding displays and a Tower at the back of the clock houses Westminster chimes that chime each quarter hour. When the door into the Tower is open, tourists can take a peek at the clock mechanism and enjoy photographs that show the history of every face design all the way back to 1950.

Dufferin Islands is a popular area for locals and tourists alike. Dufferin Islands is 10 acres of paradise a quiet, secluded park containing several small islands connected by small bridges and footpaths. In recent years, efforts have been made to further naturalize this area with the introduction of fish the installation of bird feeding stations and bird boxes as well as planting indigenous vegetation appropriate for this environment. The `catch and release` fish program has been incredibly popular with the public. This area is home to the Winter Festival of Lights from November to January each year when several animated lighting displays are placed around the perimeter of the islands.

Created way back in 1968 the Willoughby Historical Museum occupies a former school house that creates a charming appeal to the Niagara region. With quaint artefacts throughout the museum showcasing the pride of the community during Canada's centennial of confederation what's inside the museums brick walls certainly showcase its history. Artefacts spanning several centuries are available for viewing some date as far back as the late 18th century. As the name indicates Willoughby Township is well represented in the collections. The former township of Willoughby and the Village of Chippawa are both interpreted by the Museum.

19: Chippawa Battlefield
Chippawa Battlefield
The Battle of Chippawa took the lives of about 200 American, British, Canadian and Native warriors allied to both sides, most of who are thought to be buried at the battle site. This marked the first time the American regulars faced British regulars in a stand-up military action fought in the open. Many historians cite Chippawa as the birthplace of the modern American army. The Niagara Parks Commission acquired the site of the Battle of Chippawa in 1995 and has preserved 121 hctrs of this pristine battlefield, the last remaining site from the War of 1812. A self guided walking tour helps retrace the events of the battle. A memorial service is held on July 5th each year to commemorate the fallen of all the nations involved in this pivotal battle. A focal point of the Battlefield is the memorial cairn dedicated to the regiments and First Nations warriors who fought in the battle and commemorating the peace that has prevailed between Canada and the United States since that time.

The Museum provides a venue for the collection and display of artefacts relating to the military heritage of Niagara in order to enrich and educate our youth, the residents of and visitors to Niagara Falls. Visitors find personal guided tours and have valued the unique experience at Niagara Military Museum. The military museum displays artefacts of the war between the United States and England and there is a local tour guide who tells the story of the free but only in English. The museum contains historic weapons from WW-I and other interesting historic objects.
