1: The N. K. Rerikh Museum
The N. K. Rerikh Museum
Nicholas Rerikh also known as Roerich was one of Russia’s most influential painters as well as being a writer, philosopher and archaeologist. The N. K. Rerikh Museum is dedicated to the life and work of this fascinating man who was, on numerous occasions, nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Many of the artist’s stunning paintings are displayed alongside artefacts from his life and details about the man himself. His five year trek around the Himalayas and Central Asia is often featured in Rerikh’s landscapes famed for their breathtaking beauty and striking colours. Free classical concerts are held here on the third Saturday of every month.

This museum is home to numerous exhibits on local history and nature and is one of Siberia’s most important museums. With around 200000 artefacts and exhibits spanning around 150000 years of Siberia’s history, the collection here is simply staggering. This fascinating museum prioritizes interactivity to draw visitor’s right into the world of the Soviet Union. Crossing the entrance way it feels as though been transported back in time to a world of Socialism, monumental architecture and 20th century culture. The space is designed to resemble a typical family home during the Communist period and gives visitors an intriguing snapshot of Russia’s Soviet past. Rumour has it that the building itself was a former headquarters for the KGB. The USSR Museum is a true treasure trove of vintage clothes, busts of Soviet leaders, historic toys and other curiosities that are sure to keep you entertained for hours on end.

Museum of the History of West Siberian Railway
Admire the mighty machines that once regularly crossed the vast expanses of Siberia and served as the only link between remote places at West Siberian Railway History Museum. The open air museum features over 100 historical locomotives and vehicles. See old steam and electric engines, some of which are fitted with giant snowploughs to serve in the harsh Siberian winters. A tour through the authentically restored train cars allows seeing how different social classes travelled from high ranking officials to prisoners bound for gulags. The museum also displays a collection of vintage Russian automobiles and light military vehicles. Though almost all the exhibit signs are in Russian and the exhibit is pretty self explanatory.  
 
5: Central Siberian Botanical Garden

Central Siberian Botanical Garden of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences is the largest botanical institution in the Asian part of Russia. It was founded in the West Siberian Division of the USSR Academy of Sciences on academician V. L. Komarov's initiative in 1946. Central Siberian Botanical Garden is a centre of integration of botanical and ecological research in Siberia. The scientists take part in different joint projects with the USA, Italy, Finland, Canada, Sweden, China and other countries. Training of highly qualified personnel for research institutions and educational establishments of Siberia through graduate and post graduate studies is an important part of the work of CSBG.

This is the first Museum in Siberia, dedicated to the life and creative work of Nicholas Roerich and the Roerich family. The founder of the Museum is a student of N. Roerich in the second generation Natalia Dmitrievna Spirina, who arrived in the USSR in 1959 from the city China to her historical motherland. Construction of the Museum was made possible due to public donations, with the whole world, by the method called people's construction. Contribution to the creation of the Museum has been made by about 50 thousand people and 869 enterprises and organizations. Currently the Museum is public and belongs to the Siberian Roerich Society.

Novosibirsk’s Art Museum is one of the most extensive art galleries in the whole of Siberia. This cultural capital of the Siberian region houses everything from sculpture, to ancient local crafts, to fine paintings, to exquisite Russian Orthodox icons, to the most cutting edge of Russia’s modern art and with over 10000 exhibits, there’ll be no end of masterpieces to explore. The immense, grey art deco building is one of the city’s most striking sights and a must visit for any art buffs travelling the Siberian region.  
 
8: Bugrinsky Bridge

The Bugrinsky Bridge is an automobile bridge over the Ob River in Novosibirsk.The construction of the bridge began in February 2010 and finished in October 2014. It is the third bridge over the Ob River in the city of Novosibirsk. The former name Olovozavodskoy Bridge was later changed to Burginsky because it crosses the Bugrinskaya grove on the left bank of the Ob, which is located next to one of the world's largest tin factory. Former city Mayor Vladimir Gorodetsky noted that the name Olovozavodskoy is two decades old and already outdated. On 3rd December, 2013 a commission decided unanimously to name the third bridge over the Ob River in Novosibirsk as Bugrinsky. The bridge was opened for traffic on 11th October, 2014.

Lenina Square is home to many of the city’s most important buildings and also acts as an exhibition of some of the city’s most spectacular architecture. The square is a perfect place to soak up unique architecture, bustling atmosphere and fabulous culture of Novosibirsk. The Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra, the State Concert Hall, the city hall and the humongous Opera and Ballet Theatre are all to be found here radiating out from the square’s focal point an enormous statue of leader of the Russian Revolution and Russia’s most infamous socialist, Vladimir Lenin. Many lush green parks are located just a stone’s throw from Lenina Square.

Dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, Glory monument presents numerous commemorative statues, military objects and a site with an eternal flame. Covering almost 2 hctrs of land this National Heritage Site was brought to life by prominent Russian sculptors and architects. View 10 mts pillars that depict scenes of war and pylons with over 30000 names of the city's fallen soldiers. Look for four chests containing the earth from battlefields, located on top of a hill between the pillars. One striking site the grieving mother monument sits above the eternal flame.

The planetarium is situated in a wonderful place. It lies on the southern slope of Klyuch Kamyshenskoye Plateau overlooking the southern part of the city reaching the Ob Reservoir and the town of Berdsk. What is more important, the horizon in the southern direction is fully open and the main illumination, located further to the north, does not disturb the observance. The territory around the building is designed as a landscape park with astronomic elements. The zones of the Sun, the planets and the comets are joined by paths. Here little ones can have fun on a well designed playground. In the main building there is a hall with 120 seats where entertainment programs and shows are demonstrated. Here there are also observatories, a big hall and a cafeteria.

Inaugurated in 1945, the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre is famous both across Russia and the world for hosting world class performances of opera and ballet. The repertoire is chock a block with masterpieces and the building itself is a sight to behold. The theatre is famed for being the largest in Russia larger even than Moscow‘s celebrated Bolshoi Theatre. With its three halls, the largest seating around 2000 people, the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre has a simply huge capacity. Due to its size and grandeur, many have dubbed it the Siberian Coliseum.

One of the country's largest animal parks, Novosibirsk Zoo remains at the forefront of worldwide efforts to protect and breed endangered and threatened species. The zoo attracts nearly a million yearly visitors and shelters over 4000 animals, representing hundreds of different species from around the globe. The park's breeding program shot to fame in 2004, when it saw the birth of the world's first liger, a cross between a tiger and a lion. The on-site amenities include several cafes and snack bar as well as a small amusement park offering horseback rides suitable for young visitors. How To Reach Novosibirsk

By Air - The city is served by the international airport Tolmachevo located 17 kms from the centre of Novosibirsk. The airport offers regular passenger flights to major cities of Russia, countries of the former Soviet Union and the United Arab Emirates.

By Train - Novosibirsk railway station is really one of the best in Russia. It was renovated not long ago and is very comfortable and clean. The Trans-Siberian Railway passes through the city.

By Bus - The main bus station is located in the south of the city on Krasny Prospekt and buses depart to all local destinations including the direction of Altai Mountains.

By Water - Novosibirsk is also an important port on the Ob River and there are regular ferries and cruise services to and from Novosibirsk to major ports of Russia and the world.

Getting Around - As in any Russian city in Novosibirsk there are public buses, trolleybuses, minibuses marshrutkas and even a metro. However, the most popular transport in Novosibirsk is taxis.
