1: Museum Of Civilization

Established in 1806 by the Seminaire de Quebec, the Musee de l'Amerique francophone is the oldest museum in Canada. Originally known as the Musee du Seminaire, it changed its name to the Musee de l’Amerique francaise in 1993 and to the Musee de l'Amerique francophone in 2013. Located in the Historic District of Old Quebec is a testament to the settlement and development of French culture in North America. The Musee de l’Amerique francophone is housed in a building adjoining the Seminaire de Quebec which was founded by Bishop Francois Xavier de Montmorency Laval in 1663 in Quebec City. From the time of the seminary’s founding Laval encouraged the priests to compile their books thus creating one of the first libraries in New France.  
 
3: Citadel Of Quebec

The Citadel of Quebec is perched on a rocky bluff high above the St. Lawrence River. Constructed between 1820 and 1831 to defend the city against American invasion, the citadel has never actually been attacked. The fortress stands undamaged still watching over Quebec. Today, the citadel houses various museums. Not many first time visitors to the citadel realize that it is still in use. It’s the ceremonial home of Quebec's Royal Regiment and the official residence of the Governor General of Canada. Highlights include the regimental museum in an old military prison and an old French gunpowder storage room. The museum’s  collection covers more than 300 years of military history from the French colonial period onwards.  
 
4: Montmorency Falls

Cascading from just over 270 feet, the Montmorency Falls is a Quebec favourite. A beautiful sight year round the falls reach their greatest splendour in the winter when ice chutes begin to form. For the best shots, take a stroll across one of two suspension bridges that cross the Montmorency River. An aerial tram carries riders past the inspiring waterfall that travels from the parking lot to the Maison Montmorency which boasts a visitor centre, shopping and a restaurant. A bike path connects this park to Domaine de Maizerets.

Notre-Dame de Quebec is a Catholic church built in 1647, the first stone church in the new city. It was declared a cathedral in 1674 when the Quebec City Diocese was formed and became a basilica two hundred years later because it attracted large number of pilgrims. Located in Old Quebec the basilica has a magnificent neoclassical facade with two asymmetrical towers. Some of its most stunning features are beautiful stained glass windows designed by the Champigneulle House in Paris and the Meyer House in Munich, three Casavant organs and golden sculptures such as baldachin designed and built by famous French Canadian artist Francois Baillairge.  
 
6: Musee National Des Beaux-arts Du Quebec

The Musee national des beaux-arts du Quebec is located in the 108 hectare urban park of National Battlefields Park. The mission of the museum is to promote and preserve Quebec art of all periods and to insure Canadians have access to international artworks from around the globe. The museum houses over 38000 pieces dating from the 17th century to the present day. Permanent exhibits include a display of influential Quebecois artists and pieces from Toulouse Lautrec, Van Gogh and Monet amongst others. The museum is open late on Wednesday nights when the fare is half price.

The Aquarium du Quebec is a 16 hectare observational wonder where visitors and experience underwater life in both indoor and outdoor exhibits. With over 10000 animals, the aquarium invites its guests to learn about and enjoy the company of not only fish but reptiles, amphibians and sea mammals as well. A favourite feature of many visitors is the jellyfish exhibit. Special activities offered include harbour Seal training session; discover the Walrus and animal keeper for a day, amongst many others. The park includes gardens, as well as a large play area and restaurant.

St Michel de Sillery Church
St. Michel de Sillery Church originally known as Saint-Colomb church was built in 1852 by architect Goodlatte Richardson Browne and opened for worship two years later. Made of greenish sandstone from Cap Rouge and placed under the patronage of St. Michael, it commemorates the first chapel built in Sillery, near the Jesuit house. Historic church on the outskirts of Old Quebec sitting high above the St. Lawrence River ties to the original St. Michel's Chapel built by the missionary Jesuits in 1644. A beautiful monument to the North American Martyrs is positioned in front of the church. The more modern Our Lady of Peace statue seen from miles away was constructed for Pope John Paull II's visit to Canada in 1984.

Cartier-Brebeuf National Historic Site of Canada is a 6.8 hectare park located on the north bank of the Saint Charles River in the Limoilou district of Quebec City. Originally located near the Iroquoian village of Stadacona, the site commemorates the winter quarters of Jacques Cartier and his companions in 1535-1536 and the first Jesuit missionary residence in Quebec constructed during the period 1625-1626. Today, grass, selective planting, mature trees and walking and cycling paths characterize the landscaped site. Other features include an exhibit on the three voyages of the explorer Jacques Cartier, an interpretation kiosk on the Jesuits, a longhouse surrounded by a stake palisade and a number of commemorative monuments, one of which represents the figures of Jacques Cartier and the great chief Donnacona of Stadacona.

Located in the heart of Old Quebec, on the square where Quebec City was established in 1608, Musee de la Place Royale tells the story of New France, Quebec and Place Royale and the people who built the city and lived in it. The museum has a number of exciting interactive exhibits, guided activities and workshops in period costumes. A fascinating 3D movie shows the city as it was at the beginning of 17th century and tells the story of its founder Samuel de Champlain and his explorations, dreams and projects. The Museum guides offer tours of the Place Royal and narrate stories of events that happened on its site.

In 1850, Marie-Josephte Fitzbach opened a refuge for women. The goal was to help women who were without support or who were just released from prison. Fitzbach and her colleagues became known as the Soeurs du Bon Pasteur and the group has provided a much needed service ever since. This museum details the early days and is as much social history as religious history but it's compelling no matter how you look at it.

Montmorency Park is created to protect the falls and is beautifully manicured and maintained offering walking paths and lookout points. Montmorency Manor is also located in the park and it hosts a restaurant an interpretation centre and a gift shop. In the summer the falls provide a magnificent backdrop to an international fireworks competition. Famous folks immortalized in granite populate this lovely park. Notable people with commemorative monuments in the park include George Etienne Cartier, Louis Hebert, Marie Rollet and Guillaune Couilard. From the park, tourists can get a lovely look at the Quebec Seminary.

The Eglise Saint-Roch, in the parish of Notre-Dame de Saint-Roch is the largest church in Quebec City. It was constructed between 1914 and 1923. It is the fourth successive church of the same name to be constructed at the site. The Saint-Roch Church, inspired by the architecture of the middle Ages, combines two architectural styles. The facade follows the neo-Gothic tradition and the inside of the church follows the neo-Roman tradition. It is a perfect example of the revival that began to emerge with respect to religious architecture throughout the province of Quebec at the beginning of the 20th century.  
 
16: The Ursulines Museum
The Ursulines Museum
Located in Upper Town, the Ursulines Museum sits next to the order's complex of buildings, many constructed during the 17th century. Much of the history of New France is tied to religious orders and the Ursulines were the first nuns to arrive in the New World. After landing in 1639, they settled in Lower Town the convent moved to its current location just three years later. The Ursulines' mission became the education of girls, both those in indigenous families and those in the families of settlers. The museum contains artefacts from the school, paintings and sculpture, there's also a chapel that's notable for its fine 18th century woodwork.

Saint-Louis Forts and Chateaux
The Saint-Louis Forts and Chateaux archaeological site is located on top of a cliff overlooking the lower part of Quebec City, close to the Chateau Frontenac Hotel, under the Dufferin Terrace. In 2001, the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada recognized the national historic significance of the Saint-Louis Forts and Chateaux and designated it as a National Historic Site of Canada. For nearly two hundred years, the Saint-Louis Forts and Chateaux served as the seat of the colony's executive power. From 1620 to 1834 they enclosed the residence of all the French governors and British Governors General from Samuel de Champlain to Lord Aylmer. The area was then the colony's administrative political and military centre.  
 
18: Cathedral Of The Holy Trinity
Cathedral of the Holy Trinity
Built between 1800 and 1804, this cathedral was the first Anglican cathedral built under the authority of the British Crown outside of Great Britain. What is particularly unusual is that the architects were two particularly devout British Army officers, William Robe and William Hall, who designed a slightly disappointing exterior but a magnificent interior nave. About thirty years later, the eight bells for the cathedral tower were cast by the Whitechapel Bell Foundry, which cast both Big Ben, the bell that chimes in the famous tower in the Houses of Parliament in London and the Liberty Bell of American fame in Philadelphia. Visitors can request tours of the cathedral from the months of May through November. As an active parish worshippers are welcome to attend scheduled mass.
