The Hindu Mythology and legends seemed to have showered Tehri Garhwal with several spiritual significances. Here River Ganga arrives in its original form at Devprayag, where River Bhagirathi and River Alaknanda merge. One can also see many temples dotted across the place. The Tehri Garhwal derives its name from the word Triharia indicates where three kinds of sins, Mansa, Vacha, and Kamana, which means thought, word, & deed, can be cleared.

1: Buda Kedar

Buda Kedar is famous for its Shiva temple, located at the convergence of rivers Bal Ganga and Dharam Ganga. This shrine is connected to Tehri by a motorable road at a distance of 59 km. According to legends, the Pandavas, the kings, and the warriors of the great epic, Mahabharata’ met Saint Balkhily at Bhrigu Parvat while searching for Lord Shiva after the war of Kurukshetra. The Shivling at Buda Kedar is said to be the biggest of its kind in the northern part of India. The village of Buda Kedar appeals to spiritual souls and nature lovers alike.

Devprayag is a religious town situated at an elevation of 2723 ft in the Tehri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand, at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers. Devprayag, also known as The Gem of Uttarakhand, is named after Dev Sharma, a renowned Hindu sage who lived here. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ram and his father, King Dashrath, performed penance here. It's also believed that the Pandavas, the mythological characters of the Hindu epic Mahabharata, performed ablutions here before going to Badrinath.

A gravel mud wall has been naturally created on either side of the glacier by moraines, which refer to the accumulation of unconsolidated rock and soil. Trekking to the Khatling Glacier starts at Ghuttu, & is well connected to Dehradun, Tehri, Mussoorie & Rishikesh by a motorable road. The trek route covers a distance of around 45 km through villages, deep Kharsao forests, and verdant meadows.
