Unakoti lays 178 Kms. from Agartala, and 8 Kms. from Kailashaher. Unakoti is a Bengali word, meaning one less than a crore & is a Shaivite pilgrim spot full of ancient rock-cut sculptures and stone carvings. The nearest railway station is Kumarghat on the Lumding-Agartala line, about 20 Km. Apart from its religious significance, the place is also a tourist magnet because of its surrounding natural beauty with rolling mountains, lush greenery, and waterfalls.
A special mention goes to the 30 feet high statue of Shiva, called the Unakotishwara Kal Bhairava. On either side, there are two female figurines, one of Goddess Durga standing on a lion, and the other remains unidentified. There are gigantic sculptures of Lord Ganesha and the Nandi Bull as well. It is said there one less than crore sculptures of various Gods and Goddesses in the area.
Today it is managed by the ASI and is declared a heritage site. Every year during April, Unakoti plays host to the Ashokashtami Mela, a huge fair visited by thousands of pilgrims.

By Air: - Kailasahwar town is connected with bi-weekly Indian Airlines flights from Agartala.
By Road: - To get to Unakoti, one can hire a taxi from Agartala, the state capital.
By Rail: -The nearet railway station is at Kumarghat. Kumarghat has trains coming from both Agartala and Lumding. Lumding is connected to trains from New Delhi, UP, Bihar, WB and other parts of Assam, Nagaland.
Other: - Taxis, private vehicles or helicopters can be used to access Unakoti, Helicopter services are available from Agartala and Kailashahar and a preferred option for a quick way to reach there.
