Mattan, situated a few kilometers from Anantnag, is an important Hindu pilgrimage center in Jammu & Kashmir. Laying on the Pahalgam road, this center attracts hordes of devotees from the country. It is one of those religious places in India where priests and pundits used to gather to worship the Sun god. The temple is famous for its beautiful Shiva Lingam, preserved within a beautiful brick structure surrounded by crystal clear water on all sides. Presently, the temple complex is one of the much-guarded areas of Jammu & Kashmir, controlled by paramilitary forces. Special permission is required to enter this temple. Mattan is an important Hindu pilgrimage point due to its fish-filled springs.

Acchabal is a town and a notified area committee in Anantnag district in the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. Perhaps the most beautiful of springs is Acchabal, which gushes out of the Sosanwar hill, and was once enlisted by the emperor Jehangir in the service of beauty and pleasure. Acchabal is a tourist place about 8 kilometers away from Anantnag. This place is famous and attractive due to an ancient spring surrounded by a garden developed by the Mughals.

Aishmuqam Shrine houses the historical shrine of Shiekh Zain-ud-din, from the 15th century AD, for which it is known all over Kashmir. Shiekh Zain-ud-din was one of the chief disciples of Kashmir’s leading Reshi, Shiekh Noor-ud-din. Aishmuqam town’s hills have also been home to Hazrat Zain ud din Wali shrine. 

Kheer Bhavani is at a distance of 27 km from Srinagar, in the village of Tulla Mulla. Chinar trees and beautiful streams surround this temple, adding more to its charm. The temple received its name from an Indian sweet dish, Kheer, that only can be given as offerings by the devotees. A hexagonal spring in the temple is believed to represent the goddess.

The most remarkable & good-looking work of King Lalitaditya is the construction of a spacious Martand temple, which the emperor got built in honor of the Sun God or Bhaskar. Lalitaditya was a Kshatriya of the Surya dynasty. The style of the construction & the skill exhibited is rare in the history of the world. Martand holds a very high place in the world's great architectural designs & is an example of Kashmiri architectural skill. This temple has been built with square lime stones & exhibits the pillars of Greek patterns & said to be a mirror of the art of Kashmiri Hindus. 

Masjid Baba Dawood Khaki, built around 600 years ago, is among the oldest mosques in the town, situated in Anantnag’s Mohala Khaki Shaban at Reshi Bazaar. The Masjid, named after Hazrat Sheikh Baba Dawood Khaki, was a noted scholar of the region. He followed Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom Sahib.
