It is an important pilgrimage center for the Lingayat community. The Samadhi of Basaveshwara is situated here. The Sangameshwara Temple is a beautiful example of Hindu temple architecture. It is just a few kilometers from NH13 & about 242 km from Bangalore & well connected by road to Hunagund, Almatti, and Bagalkot. Kudalasangama is 15 kilometers away from Almati Dam.
It is mainly known as Sivaganga Gangadhareswara Cave Temple, and the main deity is Gangadhareswara. The goddess is Honne Devi (Swarnamba). The entrance to the cave temple of Sri Gangadhareswara is about 260 steps from ground level. On the rock floor behind the sanctum sanctorum (Garbha Griha), there is a hole where a hand can go inside. The temple lies in Sivaganga or Shivagange & is a hilly pilgrimage site cum picnic spot & the place is on the N H – 4 around 50 km from Bengaluru to Dobbaspet.
The temple is on Main Nagar Pet Road, Dodpete, Nagartapete, Bengaluru. The Dharmaraja Temple of Bangalore is in Nagarath Pet. The temple has two beautiful images, Sri Dharmaraja Swami, one of the main characters of the Hindu mythology Mahabharata, and the other of Lord Krishna.
The Jumma Masjid is located on the Old Poor House Road in the Cantonment area of the city and is the oldest mosque in Banglore & previously known as the Sangean Jamia Masjid. The prayer hall within the premises is on an elevated ground that stands on granite pillars.
