GURGAON

Sultanpur National Park & Bird Sanctuary is located 15 kms. from Gurgaon on the Gurgaon - Farukh Nagar Road. The Sultanpur National Park is lush with trees, shrubs and clusters of bougainvillea. A good pair of binoculars is a must to clearly see the wildlife from a safe distance, without disturbing them. To facilitate bird watching, there are four watch towers (machans) located at different points. In addition, there is adequate parking and facilities like toilets and drinking water. The Educational Interpretation Centre has been established here to offer proper guidance to the tourist visiting the place. The Tourist Complex built in the Park has elegant rooms equipped with all modern amenities, a restaurant and a bar. Sultanpur National Park is essentially a bird watcher's paradise with few trees obscuring the visitor's view of the lake. The birds here can be easily spotted wading, swimming or flying. Every year 90 migratory bird species arrive here in search of feeding grounds and to spend the winter. In winter, the sanctuary provides a picturesque panorama of migratory birds and even in summer, some species of migratory birds come here. Birds like common hoopoe, common spoonbill and many others   permanently inhabit the bird sanctuary. This sanctuary is also home to spot bill, painted stork, black-headed Ibis and many other rare species. 
 

The tiny town with pretty name, Sohna is credited with sulphur springs. This is situated in the heart of the town by the side of a perpendicular rock and is approachable only on foot through small narrow lanes where vehicles cannot pass. The water is strongly sulphur ate and its temperature varies from 46° C to 51.7° C. The present site of main kund, called Shiv Kund, is believed to have been the ancient abode of hermits. The hot water is believed to have curative effect on skin infections and diseases like gout and rheumatism. Hindus consider the tank sacred and come for a dip in its water on solar/lunar eclipse and Somavati Amavasya. The complex is studded with an extravagance of colourful flowers, trees and shrubs. Its vast landscape with peacocks strutting about grips one with all its beauty and splendour. Sohna by night becomes a wonderland of lights, simply bewitching.
 

Damdama Lake is one of the biggest natural lakes in Haryana, Damdama Lake is about a few kilometer south of Gurgaon and is off the Gurgaon-Alwar road. Damdama Lake fills a depression in the Aravalli hills which forms a striking backdrop to its placid waters. One can enjoy boating in Damdama Lake by Row Boats, Paddle Boats and Motor Boats. Damdama Lake is also good for adventure activities; One can enjoy rock climbing at Damdama Lake near the Aravalli Hills. Damdama lake provides ample scope for boating and if you are an avid rock climber, you will have ample scope to try out your skills in the difficult terrains of the Aravalli or on rock climbing walls made at adventure resorts. Aravalli Ranges form a backdrop to Damdama lake. Adventure sport facilities like Hot Air Ballooning, Para Sailing, rock climbing, cycling, angling, trekking and camping are possible here. Damdama Lake is the perfect place to go for boating or day tour, weekend getaway from Gurgaon.
 

This 200 years old mosque believed to be built by the founder of Aliwardi village, Nawab Aliwardi Khan is situated 2 kms north of the old Tehsil office in Gurgoan. This magnificent building was constructed in a simple style with local materials. A tomb located near to the mosque, supposed to be of Nawab Aliwardi Khan, was constructed with an artistic framework of red stone.
 

An old baoli or step-well was built by Ghaus Ali Shah, a local chief during the reign of Mughal emperor Farrukh Siyar. Built out of stone, lime plaster and bricks, this baoli wear some resemblance with the Turkish hammam. The water tank in the centre is surrounded by a veranda with well-framed arches on all sides. There are also chambers for relaxation and recreation on the upper storeys.
 

Farukh Nagar Fort, which was built in the 18th century by Nawab Faujdar Khan, is one of the popular tourist attractions in Gurgaon. Entrance of the fort features Dilli Darwaza, which is popularly called the Delhi Gate. Out of five entrances, this gateway is one of three surviving entrances to the town. Patli Darwaza and Jhajjari Darwaza are the remaining two gateways.
