Hogenakkal Waterfalls is on the river Cauvery in the Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu about 135 kms off of Bengaluru. Often called the Niagara Falls of India, the Hogenakkal falls is known for the medicinal property of the water and the special boat rides. The carobonitite rocks found here are suppossed to be some of the oldest in South Asia and in the world. It is about 18 kms from the town of Dharmapuri. During the dry season when the water from the falls does not have strong currents, special coracles take passengers out for rides. One can buy freshly caught fish which are sold by the gorge and also in the coracles.
 

The Chandra Choodeswarar Temple is a hilltop place of worship dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva and his better half goddess Parvati. The temple gets its name from the name the locals use to refer to Lord Shiva Choodeswarar. Situated in the Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu, this temple was built by a king from the Hoysala dynasty called Thirupuvanamalla Barvatharaja Anthiyazhvar in 1260 AD. Although this temple is different from the usual temple architecture of Tamil Nadu, it has an ancient history. In the Brahmanda Purana, there is a mention of this temple as Bhadragiri Mahatmiyam. This is also a famous pilgrim site and hordes of pilgrims visit this temple for various pilgrimages or theerthams like Jambava, Vrishabha, Maragatha Sarovaram, Pandava, Shivagangai and Hanuma Theertham.
 

Kelavarapalli Dam has been constructed on the River Ponniar in Tamil Nadu and raises up to 13.50 mts in height and has the capacity to store about 480 ft. The dam leads the water to the districts of Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Vellore. It is about 10 kms away from Hosur and is on the road that diverts towards Kelavarapalli off of Bangalore road. It is a preferred picnic spot for both residents of Hosur and Tourists visiting Hosur for the weekend. Complete with a beautiful children’s park the Kelavarapalli Dam has something for everyone. For nature lovers there is the refreshing climate free from all the hustle bustle and pollution of a city, for bird watchers a treat of various migratory birds including pelicans and spoonbills and for those who have a curiosity about the local culture, one can visit the village of Chennathur adjacent to the reservoir.
 

Maragatha Sarovaram is a theertham located in the premises of the famous Chandira Choodeswarar Temple in Hosur. The temple and the Maragatha Sarovaram are situated atop a hill called Bhadrachalam and is one of the most prominent shrines of the region. This ancient temple, built in 1260 by Thirupuvanamalla Barvatharaja Anthiyazhvar of the Hoysala dynasty, has a unique Architecture. The main deities of the shrine are Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati and Goddess Maragadambal. The major attractions here, apart from the Maragatha Sarovaram, are several other theerthams like the Vrishabha Theertham, Pandava Theertham, Jambava Theertham, Shivagangai and Hanuman Theertham, which are considered holy by the devotees. Many more shrines dedicated to Lord Muruga, Ganesha and various saints can be found near the Maragatha Sarovaram. The theertham and the temple are open from dawn to dusk and devotees can enjoy the serene atmosphere here.
