Aliyar Dam is a reservoir located 27 kms away from pollachi on the foothills of Valparai, in the Anamalai range of the Western Ghats. The dam offers some ideal getaways including a park, an aquarium and a mini Theme Park maintained by Tamilnadu Fisheries Corporation. It is an ideal picnic spot. Overnight stay is possible in the forest rest house. Aliyar Dam receives water from Upper Aliyar Reservoir of Valparai through the hydroelectric power station in Navamali and the Parambikulam reservoir through a contour canal. Alyar Dam the best picnic spot is located above 280 mts from the mean sea level on the Anamalai mountain range and in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve. It stands majestically with Green Spread Mountains and forest all around.

The Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History, Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary Anakkatti is a national centre for information, education and research in ornithology and natural history in India. It was inspired by and named in honour of Salim Ali, the leading pioneer of ornithology in India. It is an autonomous organisation established in 1990 and registered under the Indian Societies Registration Act. Its headquarters are at Anaikatti, Coimbatore and Tamil Nadu.
 

Kovai Kuttralam is a very famous picnic spot near Coimbatore. The place is famous for the scenic view it offers of a cascading waterfall that owes its origin to the Siruvani Hills. These hills are also a part of the Western Ghats that are towards the western side of Coimbatore. Kovai Kuttralam is easily accessible from Coimbatore and is at a distance of 35 kms from the city. The famous Siruvani Dam has been constructed right above the waterfall. The Forest Department is responsible for the upkeep of the areas surrounding the dam including the waterfall. One must take special permission from the forest department to visit the Kovai Kuttralam Falls. There are only a certain number of buses that run from the city to the place. However, one must ensure to visit the area well before 5:00 pm because no one is allowed in the place after the mentioned time.
 

The reservoir at Siruvani was built for Tamil Nadu by the Kerala Government to meet the drinking water requirements of Coimbatore. It is located 46 kms north of Mannarkad and 48 kms from Palakkad. The gateways on either side of the road across the dam are typical of the Kerala and Tamil architectural styles. Siruvani is also home to certain tribals like the Mudugars and Irulars.
 

Black Thunder is an amusement and theme-based park that is situated in Mettupalayam and is about 40 km from the city of Coimbatore.
