Matanga Hill, located just a km from the main bus stand in Hampi, is known to be the highest point of Hampi & therefore is one of the best places to see a bird\'s eye view of Hampi. According to the epic Ramayana, this hill was the site of Saint Matanga\'s hermitage, hence its name.
