Just a short distance from Panaji, this delightful bird refuge is on the tip of Chorao, an island in the Mandovi & surrounded by mangrove species. The whole area has mangrove vegetation. The sanctuary has colorful resident and migratory birds & it is a habitat for plankton, shrimps, prawns, and small Fish. Varieties of local as well as migratory birds frequently visit the area. There’s a birdwatching tower in the sanctuary that can be reached by boat when the river level, dependent on the tide, is not too low.
