St. Dominic’s Cathedral was originally built as a Church. It is situated on the banks of river Chittar in Vayampu Purayidam. The location of the Cathedral is quite captivating. It was constructed in the year 1826. It was again renovated in the year 1945 and the reconstruction ended in 1961. In the year 1977 the church celebrated its 150th birthday on 17th March. It was then when the church was declared a Cathedral. The Cathedral attracts a number of devotees as well as tourists every year.
