The museum is located in Vallabh Bhavan and is easily accessible by all available means of transport. Situated atop the hilly terrains of Bhopal, Birla Museum is an archaeological museum set up in 1971. This one of its kind museum in Bhopal preserves the evidences and artefacts, dating right back to prehistoric periods. Apart from this, it also provides its visitors a glimpse of the social culture of primitive men. Other items housed at the museum include tools and equipment that were used by primitive men during the Palaeolithic and Neolithic ages, coins, manuscripts and terracotta objects, all dating back to the period between 2nd century BC and 6th century AD. One will be amazed by the collection here, ranging from a model of Bhimbetka rock shelter to ancient wall paintings of the Stone Age. Visitors can also find displays of stone sculptures, belonging to 7th to the 13th century, which were collected from the various archaeological sites.
