ISKCON Temple

Noida

About this place

Built in 1998 and located close to Noida in Sant Nagar in the East of Kailash in Delhi, the magnificent temple was built by the International Society of Krishna Consciousness, popularly known as ISKON. The ISKON Temple is also called Hare Rama Hare Krishna temple because this is the favourite chant or the kirtan line of the devotees. Acharya Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who took the initiative for building the temple, wanted to spread the message of Bhagwad Gita through it. Strangely enough the Russian artists made a significant contribution for decorating its walls with artistic designs and images that depict the stories of Ram, Sita, Krishna and Radha. The main attraction of the temple is its central hall which is used for prayers. It has a museum that houses the splendid statues of Radha and Krishna. The temple regularly features multimedia shows on important aspects of Ramayana and Mahabharata besides the daily prayers, kirtans, artis and pravachans-discourses both in the morning and evening.
