Built in 1068, this temple has a Buddhist architectural influence on the basic Vijaynagri style. It is situated at the base of the Kadri hills, the chief deity being Manjunatha. There is also a 'Matha' here of the Jogis of the Natha Pantha. The Kadri Manjunatha Temple in Mangalore dates back to year 1068, the square temple built with nine water tanks, nestles at the foot of the highest hill in Mangalore. There are some stone caves on top of the hill. The idol of lokeshwarnath is said to be the oldest of the South Indian temples.
