The Sanctuary is located in the southwestern edges of Melghat Tiger reserve & has a glorious mythical connection, it is believed that Bheema (the Pandava) killed the Prince Keechaka and threw his body in to this valley. Thus the name Chilkahrada evolved from the prince name Keechaka. The sanctuary is extensively rich with flaura and fauna that includes Teak, Air, Tiwas, Dhawda, Kusum, Moha Bamboos, TectonaGrandis, Aola, Lendia, also medicinal plants and bamboo and animals like Tigers, Leopards, Hyena, Wild Dogs, Bison, Sambar, Barking Deer, Wild boar and many more. Best time to visit is between June to October. There are rest houses at Dhargad, in the Melghat Tiger Reserve for accommodation of tourists.
