About this place

This sanctuary, located 77 kilometers south of Agra, was created in 1979 to reintroduce the Gavialis gangeticus (Gharial) crocodilian species. The river Chambal supports eight rare turtle species out of the 26 found in the country & is one of the cleanest rivers in the country. The Chambal Safari is to acquaint visitors with a land that has retained its unique landscapes, rugged charm, and rare wildlife.
