The place is at Dharmapala Rd, Singhpur, Sarnath, about 13 km from Varanasi is a massive stupa. Dhamekh Stupa, constructed by the great Mauryan king, Ashoka, is cylindrical, built partly in stone and partly in brick & the stone facing the lower part is decorated with delicate floral carvings of the Gupta period.
