Sukhna Lake is a picturesque spot located at the foothills of the Shivalik range in the town of Chandigarh. Stretching to a length of 3 kms, this manmade lake was created in the year 1958 by damming the Sukhna Choe stream that flows down from the Shivalik Hills. The splendour of nature attracts hikers, photographers and painters towards the scenic beauty of this lake. The Asiatic Level Rowing Championships were also organised here, as it has one of the finest channels for rowing and yachting. The site is home to thousands of migratory birds that flock the region during winters.
