Chand Bawadi is a tank, situated near the eastern fringes of Bijapur. Ali Adil Shah built this tank in the 16th century and named it after his wife Chand Bibi. The fall of the Vijayanagara Empire witnessed new settlements coming up within the walled city of Bijapur. This development raised the need for better infrastructure and water supply. The tank is believed to have a storage capacity of 20 million litres.
