Coorg is home to the famous Namdroling monastery, also called the Golden temple, because of the gold work done on every painting. Namdroling Monastery is just 6 km from the town of Kushalnagar and 35 km from Madikeri. It is a typical Tibetan monastery presided over by an 18 meters high gold-plated Buddha. The paintings inside the temple describe the gods, demons, culture, & also some of the phases of Buddha's life.
