Rankala Lake

Rankala Lake is a serene lake located perfectly in a picturesque backdrop in Kolhapur. Local populace believes that the lake is directly linked to a well in the Fort of Panhala. The lake was constructed by the Kolhapur Chathrapatis. This historical lake has a temple nearby with a mammoth structure of Nandi, the chariot of Lord Shiva. Presently this is a favorite location for the local people to spend their evenings and weekends. The Padpath Udyan recently constructed by the local authorities offer good facilities for lake side walk and view. The lake is famous for boating and also the lake shore offers horse riding facilities.
