Established in 1877, the National Museum of Nature and Science is one of the largest comprehensive science museums in Japan. The Japan Gallery, organized around a key theme of ‘The Environment of Japanese Islands’, is located inside a classic building designated as a National Important Cultural Property. Informative exhibits include Futabasaurus found in Fukushima, various animals and vegetation of Japan, as well as scientific technologies. Visitors can also study biodiversity of the Earth through specimens of various inhabitants on our planet at the Global Gallery, where ‘The History of Life on Earth’ is its theme. The global gallery exhibits all the cool stuff dinosaurs and lots and lots of stuffed animals from around the world. A fascinating exhibit on biodiversity shows variations within families of animals and plants and how they evolved and the Forest of Discovery allows visitors to explore under leaves and inside nests.
