A varied program featuring art, cinema, dance, music and theatre awaits at one of the largest performing arts centres in Europe. The Barbican Centre is a multi storey cultural centre featuring a wide variety of events related to the performing arts. It is an excellent place to find inspiration and discover outstanding artists as well as artistic organizations. The Barbican Centre has a cinema, concert halls, galleries and theatres as well as bars, cafes and restaurants. Queen Elizabeth II inaugurated the centre in 1982. It is a gift offered to the inhabitants of the city of London. One can attend concerts by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra or the performances of contemporary musicians such as South African pianist Abdullah Ibrahim and the Japanese drum ensemble Kodo.
