About this place

The Park is at a distance of 10 km from Varanasi city in Sarnath. On being moved by his sacrificial zeal, the king made the place a free-roaming ground & thus known as Mrigadava (Deerpark). Here in Deerpark, he delivered his first sermon, set in motion the wheel of Law (maha- Dharmachakra Pravartan). It encompasses the beliefs and practices established by the teachings of Lord Buddha.
