This fort was originally called Chintamani and was renamed Junagarh or Old Fort in the early 20th century when the ruling family moved to Lalgarh Palace. The modern city of Bikaner has developed around the fort, 986 walls along with 37 bastions, Junagarh fort boasts magnanimous architecture. Popularly known as the Bikaner Fort by many, the main entrance of the fort is called the Suraj Pole.
