Kodikkarai Wildlife Sanctuary also known as Point Calimere or Cape Calimere is a low headland on the Coromandel Coast. The area is famous for the Vedaranyam forests which is the last of the surviving dry evergreen forest. The Point Calimere Wildlife Sanctuary is located here. The sanctuary is home to the Indian blackbuck, spoon billed sandpiper and Greater Flamingos. There are several religious and historical sites within the sanctuary which makes the place a prime tourist attraction.
