Mysore Zoo, or Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Garden, was established in 1892. The zoo is home to about 1450 animals belonging to 170 species, such as Gorillas, chimpanzees, African rhinos, Tapir, Baboon, Emu, Marmoset, Lemur, and Cassowary inhabit the zoo. Besides, Deer, Antelopes, Candies, Primates, and Reptiles. Since Karanji Lake is an integral part of the zoo, one can even spot varieties of birds here. It houses a small museum that displays stuffed animals and a library.
