Step in the footprints of the first Neanderthal discovery at Neanderthal Museum. First, work the way through exhibits on the history of the Neanderthal, with information on relics of the Neanderthal skeleton. Next, learn about crucial stages of human history, covering the five subject categories of life and survival, tools and knowledge, myth and religion, environment and nourishment and communication and society. Children can take part in several interactive exhibits, such as the Stone Age workshop. Outside, the site where the Neanderthal was discovered is now an archaeological garden with two botanical areas showing typical vegetation from the Ice Age. The Human Traces art trail is dedicated to the relationship between humans and nature. All signs and audio guides in the museum are available in German and English.
