Shukratal is a well known religious town in the district. It is the place where Rishi Suka is said to have narrated the Bhagwat Purana for 7 days before being bitten to death by a snake as per the prophecy. Several devotees visit the site every year and make it a point to also perform Parikrama around the famous immortal Banyan tree which is said to have witnessed the Bhagwat Purana being narrated.
