From a historical point of view, this fort is significant because it was the first fort won by Shivaji Maharaj. Torna is also known as Prachandagad, which means Huge. Torna Fort Trek is a day adventure ex-Pune with a medium level of difficulty. The trek is typically done during monsoon and winters and takes about 5-6 hours of walking/trekking. Torna fort base is located at about 50-60 Km. from Pune near Velhe.
