Bath Aqua Glass next to Bath Abbey is a beautiful independent glass studio where one can watch the makers in action. The theatre makes stained glass and jewellery in its Abbey Courtyard shop. All items are handmade by skilled artists in Bath in one of the two workshops and include everything from pendants and earrings to wine glasses, vases and stained glass mirrors and hangings. The theatre has a glass blowing studio ten minutes away where we have daily demonstrations and where one can put breath in a glass bauble. Taking its name from the city’s Latin name Bath Aqua is made by adding copper oxide to molten glass. This gives the aquamarine colour reminiscent of the historic city’s hot springs. The designs available in this finely crafted range, take inspiration from ancient Roman glass vessels.
