About this place

The Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asian Arts was established by an art collector and patron Ferenc Hopp in 1919, which left his 4000 piece Oriental collection to the state in order to found museum of Asiatic arts. After the opening of the museum the collection has expanded through donations buying exhibits and relocating Oriental material from other museums. Nowadays the museum has over 20000 objects and two of the biggest collections present the art of Japan and China. The museum is set in an old house off Andrassy Street and curate with the personal collection of a Ferenc Hopp who made a lot of trips to Asia and contains an interesting collection.
